West Half of Villa Marie Subdivision
Road Work and Closure

Dunn Company and Charles Mahoney Company are starting a street reconstruction project in the Western half of the Villa Marie Subdivision, (St. Joseph Dr., St. Peter Dr., St. Paul Dr., St. Thomas Dr., and the streets of St. Rose Dr. & St. Anthony Dr. west of St. Charles Dr.), in Godfrey, Illinois on Monday, September 28th at 7:00 A.M., weather permitting.  So, there will be no parking on these streets allowed during these operations.  The streets, being worked on during the soil cement stabilization phase, will be completely closed that day.  During the other four phases, the public will have access to the streets but is advised to be cautious and there may be some period of waiting time.

The phase maps show the work zone areas as laid out by the Contractors.  Each phase of the project will move from location to location as shown in the phase maps. (Hit dates for type of work and location)

Posted 11/02/09 4:20 p.m.  Mahoney has just completed this project today.

Posted 10/29/09 2:15 p.m.  Mahoney try to Hot-Mix Asphalt on Thursday, October 29, 2009 before it rained.  Mahoney was able to Hot-Mix the west side of the south side of St. Joseph Drive and half of the east side of the south side of St. Joseph Drive.  They then scratch coat on the rest of the east side of the south side of St. Joseph Drive.  The forcast call for rain on Friday too.  Mahoney will try to finish on Friday, but most likely it will be on Monday, November 2, 2009 that they will be able to finish the rest of St. Joseph Drive the two Cul-de-sac on St. Thomas Drive and the west half of the north part of St. Thomas Drive.

Posted 10/26/09 1:30 p.m.  As of now, Mahoney is looking at finishing the Hot-Mix Asphalt on Thursday, October 29, 2009.  They are looking at sweeping the water and leaves of the unpave streets on Wednesday, 28, 2009 and letting them dry for a day and then placed the Hot-Mix Asphalt on Thursday before the evening schedule rain.

Posted 10/23/09 1:10 p.m.  Mahoney has called off Hot-Mix Asphalt work for Monday, October 26, 2009 because of the rain forcast and condition of road.  The plan is to be in on Tuesday, October 27, 2009.

Posted 10/22/09 2:30 p.m.  Mahoney has called off Hot-Mix Asphalt work for Friday, October 23, 2009 because of the rain.  They will try to finish with the Hot-Mix Asphalt work on Monday, October 26, 2009.  They will try to be out on Friday, October 23, 2009 cleaning up some of the loose asphalt along the curb and gutter and re-adjusting the Storm Sewer Manhole on St. Anthony Drive.

Posted 10/22/09 7:15 a.m.  There will be no work today Thursday October 22, 2009 because of the incoming rain scheduled.  Mahoney change the plans a little for yesterday's work.  The only area still needing Hot-Mix Asphalt is on the two cul-de-sac's on St. Thomas Drive, the west side of the north part of St. Thomas Drive and all of St. Joseph Drive.

Posted 10/21/09 7:00 a.m.  Mahoney is hopefully looking to place Hot-Mix Asphalt down on St. Paul Drive and St. Joseph Drive today.  That will just leave part of St. Anthony Drive and St. Thomas Drive left to finish.  This will depend on weather when this will get done with rain forcast for Thursday and Friday.

Posted 10/16/09 8:50 a.m.  Mahoney is looking at placing Asphalt down on Monday, October 19, 2009 at St. Rose Drive and St. Thomas Drive north of St. Peter Drive and start working on getting asphalt down on St. Anthony Drive.

Posted 10/15/09 2:00 p.m.  Because of the sloppiness of the streets in Villa Marie, Mahoney will be unable to place asphalt on the streets at Villa Marie on Friday, October 16, 2009.  They hope that they can get the roads in to shape for asphalting on Monday, October 19, 2009.  They will determined on Friday which streets they will start on.

Posted 10/14/09 2:45 p.m.  Because of the sloppiness of the roads in Villa Marie and complaints about the slickness of trying to get on to Humbert we have closed the entrance onto Humbert.  You must enter from Bachman or Roach Road.  Mahoney is looking at starting to pave on Friday, October 16, 2009.  On the south entrance of St. Joseph the ground conditions are so bad that the Village will be digging out the sub base and repairing the area on Monday, October 19, 2009.

Posted 10/14/09 11:00 a.m.  Dunn has finished with Profile Process and new Manhole rim (on St. Anthony Dr) has been put in to place.  They are set to the level of the new asphalt street level.  So there is a three inch lip and they have a barricade on them.  The next step is paving (if it ever stop raining).  Mahoney is looking at Thursday, October 15, 2009 but the weather and road condition is making it less likely this will happen.  So, they may try to start on Friday, October 16, 2009.  They are looking at St. Anthony Dr and maybe St. Thomas Dr. depending on conditions.  Please try to avoid parking on the streets during the day in case they can start paving.

Posted 10/8/09) 8:00 a.m.  Because of the rain on October 8, 2009, Dunn will not work on Soil Cement Process on St. Thomas Dr., St. Joseph Dr. and St. Peter Dr. between Humbert Rd. and St. Thomas Dr.  Because of the rain forcast for October 9, 2009 most likely this Soil Cement Process job will be done on Monday, October 12, 2009.  If there is no rain on Friday, Dunn may try to work.  Dunn may also try to start Profiling on Monday too.

(Posted 10/5/09) 12:50 p.m.  Because of the forcast of rain on October 6, 2009, Dunn will not work on Soil Cement  Process on St. Peter Dr. and St. Rose Dr.  Dunn will work on these road on Wednesday October 7, 2009.  And they will wait till Wednesday to check on the upcoming weather forcast to decide when they will work on St. Joseph Dr. and St. Thomas Dr.  Thank you for your patience.

(Posted 10/2/09) 1:00 p.m. Dunn is back on original Schedule.  St. Anthony Dr. west of St. Charles Dr. and St. Paul Dr. will be closed to all traffic on Monday, October 5, 2009, weather permitting, for Soil Cement Process.  And St. Joseph Dr. will have removal done on Monday, October 5, 2009.

(Posted 10/1/09 8:00 am)  Because of the rain on October 1, 2009 there will be no street Removal on St. Rose Dr. and St. Peters Dr. but will be rescheduled for October 2, 2009.  And St. Joseph on October 5, 2009 if not done on October 2.  At this time, the contractor is planning on keeping the Soil Cement as schedule, starting on October 5th.

Dates of Operations:
September 28                    October 05                      October 12              October 19              October 26
September 29                    October 06                      October 13              October 20              October 27
September 30                    October 07                      October 14              October 21              October 28
October 01                          October 08                      October 15           October 22               October 29
October 02                          October 09                      October 16            October 23     October 30

The sequence of operations will be pulverizing, to be followed by, material removal, to be followed by soil cement stabilization, then a final profiling process, and lastly the asphalt overlay.  THE SCHEDULE IS SHOWN WITHOUT ANY DELAYS BECAUSE OF BAD WEATHER OR OTHER WORK PROBLEMS.  IF WORK IS CALLED OFF FOR ANY DAY BECAUSE OF BAD WEATHER, THE PROJECTED SCHEDULE WILL BE PUSHED BACK BY THAT CORRESPONDING DAY OR DAYS.  The Village will try to keep the website maps up to date.

The soil cement stabilization operation is the most critical.  Because of the presence of cement powder on the street, the street will be completely closed during this operation.  This operation will typically begin about 7:00 to 8:00 A.M.  During this time period your vehicle(s) must be moved to outside the work zone and access to your home will only be on foot.  The no vehicle restriction will generally be four (4) to five (5) hours from the start in the morning.  Access to your home will probably not be available during the noon hour unless by foot.  ONLY VEHICLES FOR EMERGENCY PURPOSES WILL BE ALLOWED ACCESS TO SOIL CEMENT STABILIZATION AREAS DURING THE PROCESSING OPERATION.  ANY NON-EMERGENCY VEHICLE ENTERING A SOIL CEMENT STABILIZATION AREA DURING PROCESSING SHALL DO SO AT THEIR OWN SOLE RISK AND RESPONSIBILITY.  Vehicular access should be available after 3:00 P.M.

The Contractors will start work at 7:00 A.M. each day.  There will be NO PARKING ON THE STREETS FROM 8:00 A.M. TO 5:00 P.M. OR UNTIL CONTRACTOR HAS LEFT THE WORK ZONE FOR THE DAY.  VEHICLES PARKED ON THE STREETS AFTER 8:00 A.M. WILL BE TICKETED AND TOWED AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE.  All street work should be completed by October 30th, if not sooner, depending on weather and/or road conditions.
